David is the Percival Carmine Chair in Epidemiology and Public Health at Massey University. His research interests are in disease ecology and epidemiology of infectious diseases affecting public health and conservation. David has won a prestigious Wellcome Trust Training fellowship in the UK while at Cambridge University, David H Smith Postdoctoral fellowship in the USA, and a Rutherford Discovery Fellowship from the Royal Society Te Apārangi in 2017.
