Nirmal Nair
Principal Investigator
Nirmal Nair is Professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering and directs the Power Systems Group, both housed within the Faculty of Engineering and Design at the University of Auckland. Nirmal’s research interests include integration of distributed and renewable electricity resources to energy infrastructure with emphasis on blackouts, protection, restoration resilience, economics and innovation (smart grids, photovoltaic, storage, electric vehicle integration). He is exploring big-data analysis, power law distribution and graph theoretic work around blackout prevention alongside complex transdisciplinary human-infrastructure-living challenges like affordable, secure climate change adaptation pathways and renewable energy poverty through Te Pūnaha Matatini.
